Kanye Photograph

Feeling truly inspired by this dude right now. I took this photograph two years ago with a regular nikon coolpix point and shoot camera, and did a little bit of post production work on it, to make it into a black and white photograph. I've always loved black and white photography, especially those taken with film. Black n White film, to me anyway, has a timeless gritty feel to it, especially those rock and roll images of artist performing. There is a gallery in SOHO that has beautiful black n white photography prints of Rock stars, I can't afford any of them, so I decided to make my own.

Under Repairs!!!!

My damn computer table (a glass kitchen table that I converted into my desk), came crashing down and broke into a million pieces, and down with it went my computer. My computer didn't get smashed into a million pieces, thankfully, but it took a serious hit and doesn't turn-on now. Smh...so now I'm out of commision for a few days while it's under repairs.

Enigma Revised: Usurping the Crown

Nobody is bigger than Jay-Z in terms of longevity and the shear impact he has on the hip hop culture as a whole, he’s like the U2 of rap. Kanye on the other hand is also huge but not as big as Jay-z, but after seeing the preview to the “POWER” video, and knowing how creative and talented Kanye is, I just feel like he will change the game once more with his upcoming album and be the true King of Hip Hop.

Saltfish

Experimenting a little with this one, was going for a more sophisticated look, not sure if I pulled it off, but it does look clean and completely different from anything else on the Caribbean flyer scene

All Black Everything

I like working with open minded clients, who trust my judgement as the graphic designer. While I might not be correct in my decisions all the time, I do appreciate a client who trust my judgement for the sake of making a beautiful flier. The client wanted pictures added...which I hate doing sometimes, because it takes away from the design...especially in this case for such a clean layout, adding pics would have spoiled the look. I really love how this one came out.

Team NYC all access flyer

I had to compile all the flyers for the week long event, into one flyer and make it so that people understood that it's multiple events, but you could also pay one price for all events, at the same time. I designed 3 of the five flyers for the events (Evening Miami and Blanco were done by another designer), some of the promoters already had their own designers. I wish I had done all the flyers for the project because it would have been more cohesive, but I think I did a good job with the elements I had.

Pretty Pink

So Ivybez hit me up for a flyer, he wanted his Pink theme party flyer done in my style (whatever that may be) so I agree and proceed to create. Pink and White are the colors he wants me to use, so I start of by following his previous design for some kind of direction.
Was having a hard time with it at first, because I didn’t know what elements to use…but after a few hours , I had pretty much completed it, but something was still missing. I reluctantly added the girl from my personal project and it fit perfectly. I also added a few spec elements from another project…but to my surprise, after I had sent it off to final approval / printing, I noticed the little photographer sitting on her shoulder, which I had accidently imported with the other spec elements, but did not notice, overall I think it adds a little bit of quirkiness to the image.

Black August

The Black August Flyer was a chance for me to do something different from my usual designs. The client had specific images they wanted to use, and a certain vibe they wanted to come across with this event. Once I started it, I wasn’t really feeling the direction it was going in, yeah I used the images the client provided but that vibe/feel they wanted wasn’t there. So I took a break and decided to search google to find some inspiration...and once I found what I was looking for, everything came together rather nicely.

This piece is about the end of a relationship...going forward through unfamiliar terrain at the same time contemplating the uncertainty of it all. The curtains are a representation of the end / beginning of the present/future.

A Fabolous Portrait

Some experimentation...I've been thinking about painting and getting into more ways of expressing myself other than the computer. I really want to experiment with screen printing techniques and collage but don't have a clue on how to start or what to do. I think some of these ideas I have will work really well with painted surfaces on a large scale.
